Prepare For Your Photoshoot.

Take a minute to read the tips below to get the most out of your session.

1. Plan Your Wardrobe

  • Choose attire that highlights your technique and complements your style.

    • Audition Photos: Solid-coloured leotards with thin straps and a high cut, new stockings, clean pointe shoes, soft canvas shoes and hair in a neat bun.

    • Creative Photos: Costumes, skirts, or outfits that align with your concept.

  • Bring a variety of options to maximise the shoot, including backups in case of unforeseen issues.

  • Ensure all clothing is clean, ironed, and free of any visible wear or damage. We have a steamer at the studio if you need it!

2. Perfect Your Technique

  • Practice key poses or movements you'd like to capture during the session.

  • Focus on your strengths, clean lines and pure alignment to ensure your technique shines in every shot.

  • Create a mood board of the direction you would like the shoot to take and the poses you would like to try. Pinterest is the best platform for this or you can save images on instagram.

  • If you're unsure of what poses to do, Jacqueline will be able to guide you.

3. Prep Your Hair and Makeup

  • Hair: Go for a neat, polished look that complements your outfits and doesn’t distract from your movements.

    • Bring a brush, comb, extra hair ties, pins, and hairspray for touch-ups.

  • Makeup: Keep it natural and clean to enhance your features.

    • For creative shoots, feel free to experiment with a bold look that matches your theme.

  • Professional Hair & Makeup: If you’ve booked your HMU to be done prior to the photoshoot, include a photo of what you would like to look like on your mood board. If you’re unsure, the hair and makeup artist will guide you! The hair and makeup artist will leave after your appointment, so please pack the items listed above for touch ups.

4. Take Care of Your Skin and Nails

  • Ensure your skin is well-moisturised and drink lots of water the week leading up to the photoshoot.

  • If applicable, shave or groom areas such as legs and underarms for a smooth appearance, as these details may be visible in close-up shots.

  • Nails should be clean and neatly trimmed. Avoid brightly coloured nail polish unless it fits the concept of your shoot.

5. Pack Essentials

  • Shoes: Bring pointe shoes, flats, or other dance footwear required for the session. Don’t forget toe pads, bandaids etc if you’re wearing pointe shoes.

  • Extras: Towel, sanitary items, sewing kit, water bottle, and snacks to stay energised.

  • Accessories: Props or items you'd like to include in creative shots.

6. Rest and Hydrate

  • Get plenty of sleep the night before to ensure you're well-rested and ready to perform.

  • Stay hydrated and eat a light, healthy meal before your session to maintain your energy levels.

7. Arrive Prepared and On Time

  • Arrive 30-45 minutes early to settle in and get warmed up.

8. Communicate and Enjoy

  • Share any specific ideas, concepts, or must-have shots to try with Jacqueline during the shoot.

  • Relax, have fun, and let your personality shine through!
